VERY BEST: Lena

She was born as Lena Johanna Theresa Meyer-Landrut in Hannover, Germany. After she took dancing lessons as a child, she was part in multiple German TV-series as an extra. Her big breakthrough came in 2010 when she participated in the talent show ‚Unser Star für Oslo‘ (our star for Oslo) where the winner was crowned to go to the Eurovision Song Contest held in Oslo. Lena quickly became the favorite of the show and multiple of her songs reached top ranks in the German Charts during that show. After she won the competition and her song ‚Satellite‘ was chosen as her Eurovision entry the song became #1 in Germany for five consecutive weeks and was the fastest selling digital release ever. In May 2010 she won Eurovision Song Contest for Germany and reached the top position in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. In the same year she released her debut album ‚My Cassette Player‘ and debuted at #1 at the German album charts. It was certified platinum twice.

In 2011 producer Stefan Raab decided to nominate Lena for the Eurvision Song Contest in Germany where she finished 10th. The same year she released her 2nd album ‚Good News‘ and again reached #1 in the German album charts. The album was certified platinum.

She released more albums in 2012 („Stardust“) and 2015 („Crystal Sky“) – both reached #2 in the German album charts. Stardust was certified Gold. Her latest album „Only Love, L.“ was released in 2019 and also peaked at #2 in Germany.
