BLUE PARADISES – GALAPAGOS – Ep03

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

The legendary archipelago is obviously one of the best diving spots in the world.
When you say „Galapagos“ all the divers in the world suddenly open their ears wide and yet words often fail to express all the emotion aroused by this immaculate aquatic paradise.
Thousands of pelagic species, incredible volcanic seascapes, myriad exotic creatures, the Galapagos Islands are one of the richest faunas of the underwater world.
The surface of the Galapagos Marine Reserve has just been enlarged by 60%, thus increasing to 198,000 km2 or 60,000 km2 more for this paradise of biodiversity in the Pacific Ocean. The Galapagos are a kind of underwater holy land.
Now to be completely honest with you, good dives take patience. There are 3 currents in the Galapagos: Cromwel, Panama and Humboldt.
It will be necessary to insist a little to have the day with a magical visibility (25 meters max).
But don’t be discouraged because when that day comes, you will probably experience one of the most beautiful dives of your life.
Encountering Galapagos marine life is a truly unique experience, especially when it comes to knowing where to lay your eyes : marine Iguanas, schooling Hammerheads, Penguins, schools of Mobulas, Eagle rays, Whale Sharks, Turtles, Galapagos shark, Dolphins, Yellow-tailed Surgeonfish, King Angelfish, Sergeant-major, Parrot Fish, octopi, Mola Mola Fish, Cormorants, Sea Lions…Probably one of the most incredible subaquatic show in the world.
Diving in Galapagos is simply fascinating.
There are a lot of diving spots you won’t want to miss: Wolf and Darwin of course, but also Gordon Rocks, Kickers Rocks, Cape Marshall, Punta Vincente Roca, Cousin’s Rock, North Seymour, Mosquera, Devil’s Crown and Pitt Point are among them.

Please note, some dives are only accessible by liveaboard, in fact most of the islands are uninhabited. But rest assured for those who do not yet know this Jewel of scuba diving, you can also dive directly from the main islands : San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, Isabela and Floreana also offer incredible dives.
In addition, it will give you the opportunity to fully enjoy the Galapagos as these islands are a paradise both aquatic and terrestrial.
Wildlife is everywhere even in the cities, you will not be surprised to find yourself sitting on a public bench next to a sea lion or to lounge on the beach alongside a marine iguana.

GALAPAGOS is the third part of the triptych of subaquatic poems „Blue Paradises“

More than a diving center

On Santa Cruz Island (Ask for Maca, he is a living legend of scuba diving in the Galapagos)

Our Gear

Nauticam Camera Housing

Canon 1 DX mark II

Camera RED Helium 8K

Equipment to start underwater video or photography is often expensive.
But if you want to get started, there is some really good quality equipment at affordable prices,
below, we have selected 3 complete equipment that we have tested :

More or Less 500$

GoPro Hero9

Housing & Red Filter

Dome Port (double hand)

Memory card

Our recommendation for this product : Set your Gopro before diving (Format, recording speed, etc), DO NOT USE the white balance in auto mode!
Be careful high speeds like 120 fps or 240 fps eat a lot of light, if you dive deep it’s a bad idea. Otherwise it’s an all-terrain camera, no risk.

Between 500$ and 1000$

Olympus TG-6

Housing PT-059

Our recommendation for this product : Excellent product between 10 and 20 meters but has colorimetric limits beyond 20 meters. Easy handling to start filming underwater.
Will adapt perfectly to diving in the Red Sea for example.

More than 1000$

CANON 5D Mark IV

Housing Seafrogs

Lens RF 24-105mm (F4-7.1)

Our recommendation for this product : For the CANON : 30,4 Mpix, video in 4K, ISO Range up to 32000, …You can sleep on both ears. For the Housing Up to 40 meters deep. For both, rock solid equipment (CANON + Seafrogs), on the other hand for frequent travelers beware of the weight, the 5D MARK IV + the housing + Lens = 4 Kg
