Virtual Production Short Film made by Yiran Wang and Yuhang Liu
Because of pandemics and isolation, we begin to think more about life and death, presence and separation, and shift our attention from real life to virtual world. It is undeniable that virtual reality has broadened our spiritual and conscious travel through unlimited space and time. We encounter the virtual world through our eyes, rather than other senses of our body, and what we see are real? Will distinguishing between true and false, real and unreal still be an important subject in the future? Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave” implies the possibility that we may have been in a cave all the time and unable to break the rules. We paid tribute to the image of the monolith in “2001: A space odyssey Monolith” as a warning to our future. The monolith is just a symbol that exists around us in different forms. Reality is frustrating, but we don’t want to construct an illusion of escapism where hedonism prevails. There are many ways to brace the future, but we should always look at the world with a skeptical and reflective attitude.
