SO HOW WAS IT?
Pandora was, in a word, INCREDIBLE. I was thoroughly impressed and really blown away with the scale of the project. It really feels like you’ve entered another world as soon as you walk in. Everything around you from the plants that you see, to the music that’s playing, to the animal sounds that you can hear are completely alien and new. You know immediately that you are not in Animal Kingdom anymore.
While you don’t have to be a fan of the movie Avatar to enjoy Pandora I do think it would help you to understand the culture of the Navi and the back story, especially the Flight of Passage ride. So I’d recommend seeing before you visit if you never have. I liked Avatar back when it first came out. I thought it was visually cool but the story didn’t interest me a ton and yet I still loved this land so being a big fan of the movie definitely isn’t required.
THE LANDSCAPE
It’s hard to convey the scale of the floating islands that are the key feature of the landscape. The pictures look pretty, but they don’t really show how tiny you feel standing under them or how REAL it all looks. It always amazes me that they can make something look like it’s been growing there for thousands of years when you know it was just built. But that’s how it feels- very organic and old. I know I said there’s technically two attractions, but really, the floating islands are an attraction in themselves. I really enjoyed just walking around and soaking up the amazing atmosphere. For that reason I’d say if at all possible, try to visit Pandora when the weather is nice enough for you to enjoy the scenery and take lots of pictures. Pandora is essentially a giant travel postcard in its beauty. (Speaking of pictures, just a side note but this place is a photographers dream. Even with a phone you can get incredible looking shots but someone with real skill can spend hours just capturing it all.)
LET’S GET TO THE BEST PART
The highlight of Pandora is the attraction Flight of Passage. This is a flight simulator ride. Now I know, I know. Lately theme parks are doing way too many 3-D movies and simulators and it can feel like a cop-out to designing an actual thrill ride. But, trust me when I say this ride is far beyond what you’re thinking and really couldn’t have been done any other way. The idea is you will be paired with your own Navi Avatar (body double) to bond with and ride a Banshee. (This is where seeing the movie really helps.)
The queue for the stand by line is pretty cool- there’s a lot to see. Which is a good thing since it’s extremely long. They are obviously planning for some long wait times for this ride. You can see some of the bio-luminescent plant life, as well as see an actual Avatar floating in some kind of tube. It looks straight out of the movie.

Участники проходят инструктаж, обследование, нам подбирают тела аватаров, рассказывают о процессе слияния с ними. Дальше каждая группа проходит в кабинки по 8 человек.
Все вещи и камеры складываются в ящики около сидений, напоминающих родео-аттракцион, спина закрепляется отдельно, на глаза надеваются стерео-очки. На мелком экране включается процесс «слияния».
В 3D – полная иллюзия полета, в брызгах водопадов, всего не передать, класс, экстрим в натуре!…
ГДЕ АВАТАР…, ГДЕ МОЙ ХВОСТ !?… Настолько пропитывается пережитым после этих колоссальных аттракций, что выходя ЩУПАЕШЬ СЕБЯ СЗАДИ В ПОИСКАХ ЭТОГО ЧУВСТВИТЕЛЬНОГО ХВОСТА � !!!
