Yao Yijia graduates from Shanghai Donghua University of fashion designing major. She knows the wheat straw painting by chance. Interested in this craft, she devotes herself to it. To solve the limitation on colors of wheat straw painting, Yao Yijia learns and combines embroidery to her works which creates a new art variety integrating decoration and collection.

The wheat straw painting consists several procedures. Firstly, it refers to the selection of materials. The middle part of wheat straw is chosen. Due to different colors of straw in different places, Yao Yijia collects various wheat straw across the country. Secondly, the wheat straw is cut and immersed in the water. After scrapping off the fiber, it is followed by ironing, trim and patchwork to make diverse paintings with different styles.
