In my daily life, I always travel on the same high speed train line with high frequency, moving through space in a very short period of time. However, I used to be more absorbed in my mobile phone and other electronic devices than in the scenery outside the window, and thus neglected the possibility of transforming „space“ and „place“ during these frequent and repetitive journeys. As I began to record and observe everything outside the window, I became absorbed in and willing to accept the scenery along the road that I saw every day but had forgotten about. The author, sitting in the carriage, and the viewer, have switched roles from „space“ to „place“ – because they started to watch, they became connected to everything. The video is called Daydreaming, and I chose to present the image from an unconventional perspective, as if to create a dream, to represent a hazy state of subconscious memory – because much of each individual’s memory is not their own subjective memory, and everything happens in their daily actions, and the effects are unconscious.
My aim in doing so is to deconstruct repetitive, everyday memories and to have a fresher and more stimulating perception of ’space‘ and ‚place‘. Therefore, by taking a break from the usual context of life, I wanted to create extraordinary images based on reality – i.e. by dismantling and reconstructing the whole to make it unfamiliar and form a new landscape. The process of creation is amazing and a reconstruction of meaning, and this overall transformation allows me to feel the meaning of my work and photography from a new perspective.
