Women’s Fashion Archive – FESCH.TV

Women’s Fashion Archive & FESCH.TV:

My piece is about the complexities of women’s fashion– the real, the imagined, and how it can be executed. The film images are from „Tomorrow Always Comes“ (1941), a promotional short film for Bur-Mil rayon garments. I also took excerpts from the book The Way She Wears It by Dallas Shaw (2017) and layered the quotes over images of clothing and fabric. I collaged fashion sketch images with them. I chose a collage element within my film so the audience would piece together the similarities between the spoken text in the archive film, the sketches, the quotes, and the archive images. The photo images were taken at Anthropologie in March of 2023, and I captured them hoping that I would use them in a film. The different time eras for each of my mediums communicate how the meaning and need for fashion is static, because I connected the excerpts of text from 2017 to spoken word text from 1941, and images taken in 2023, as well as fashion art sketches.
