What’s Included in Medicare Medicare Education Week

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Lindsay and John Discuss what is included in Medicare coverage in honor of National Medicare Education Week!

Original Medicare Coverage

Lindsay: Hi, everyone. Lindsay Engle and John Lehman here again with Elite Insurance Partner and medicareFAQ.com Thank you so much for joining us for National Medicare Education Week. Today, we are actually going to go over services that you may not be aware of that are 100% free and covered by Medicare, as well as some services that are not covered at all. John, can you tell me what services are covered that are actually 100% free to us?

John: Well, Lindsay, there is an array of services that are covered by original Medicare Part A and Part B. And one of the most important ones is – “Your welcome to Medicare visit.” This one-time doctor’s appointment is covered at no cost within the first 12 months of Medicare Part B enrollment. And it typically includes a review of your medical history, a weight, and blood-pressure check, as well as flu shots and the simple vision test to name a few. And the best part is, you pay nothing as long as your doctor accepts Medicare Assignment, and the Part B deductible does not apply.

Lindsay: Well, that’s a great benefit. So, can you briefly explain what the difference is between that exam and the Annual Wellness Exam?

John: Sure. The Annual Wellness Exam is a yearly appointment you make with your primary care physician, and that’s to help create or update your personalized prevention plan to help reduce illness based on your current health and other risk factors involved.

Lindsay: So, can you go over some services that are not covered?

John: Sure. The most notable services that are not covered are going to be things like long-term care, foreign travel, most dental care including dentures, hearing aids and fittings for them, as well as routine foot-care, cosmetic surgery, and acupuncture.

Lindsay: Awesome! Thank you so much for your time. So, if you have any additional questions regarding what services are and/or not covered by Medicare, please feel free to leave a comment below. And if you liked what you heard today, make sure to jumping over to our Facebook group – MedicareFAQ – a community that cares.
