What is EU Settlement Scheme?

EU, EEA, Swiss citizens & their family can apply to EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.

Successful applicants will get Settled Status or Pre settled status
The deadline for applying is 30 June 2021, though applicants must have started living in the UK by 31 Dec 2020.

What is settled status and pre-settled status?

Settled status

Applicants will get settled status if they have been living in UK by 31 Dec 2020 and lived in UK for a continuous 5-year period (known as ‘continuous residence’)

Pre settled status

Applicants without 5 years’ continuous residence, will usually get pre-settled status, they must be living in the UK by 31 Dec 2020.

What are the rights with Settled or pre-settled status?

Holders who have settled or pre-settled status in the UK can
# 1 live and work in the UK
# 2 use the NHS for free (if they are able to do so at the moment)
# 3 enrol on courses or continue studying in UK
# 4 access public funds like benefits & pensions (subject to eligibility)
# 5 travel in and out of the UK
