VRW Series description

Voices from the Roof of the World (VRW) is a series of compelling half hour films, produced entirely by filmmakers from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India and India. Under the leadership of Exec. Producer Andrew Tkach they have captured the most poignant personal stories from the 240 million people living on the frontlines of climate change in the world’s highest mountain region, from the Tian Shan to the Himalayan Mts. Other episodes travel downstream to document how the melting of the world’s largest depository of ice outside the polar ice caps will affect the 1.5 billion people living downstream in South and Central Asia. We also show how air pollution and heat may make the world’s most densely packed cities unlivable and how to plan ahead for the coming “killer heat waves.” The VRW series, which will run two seasons will also focus on stories of hope , documenting the dedication of people who’ve brought endangered wildlife, like Himalayan brown bears back from the brink, or water to parched high mountain villages.
