Vocabulary – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Each field has its own vocabulary, its own jargon, and contemporary art is no exception. I came to contemporary art after already having learned vocabularies for climate change and psychology, but even so I was struck by what seemed an impenetrable code, of using familiar words in strange combinations, terms so overused as to become meaningless, terms that come in and out of fashion as fast as, well, fashion. I originally created this performance in Spanish, this English version was performed at Hillyer Art Space in Washington, DC, curated by Eames Armstrong, in around 2011 or so.
