Spring 2021 collection / Mona Cordes’VIVAL VIRTUEZ‘ based on the theme of 7 deadly sins. The focus of Mona Cordes’s collection lays on each of the sins character traits symbolised through print and colour. The contrasts between the characters emotions as there are f.e within characters pride vs. acedia is a main focus of the shoot and the collection itself. Other sins Mona is focussing on are envy, vainglory and wrath. Each of them have sibling looks which consist of the more wearable pieces as the jumpers, vest tops and cycling shorts, tops.
‘VIVAL VIRTUEZ’ is more than special to Mona since it is her first collection straight out of university, having finished her Masters in fashion Design in 2021, the new collection is created in Mona’s first and own studio which I have a years sponsorship for with SET. Since ‘VIVAL VIRTUEZ’ has been created in covid it feels like the emotional outburst of creativity and emotions all coming into one big project. An outlet which I could channel her energies into. Feeling proud of yourself when having achieved something good for example. Feelings one’s own grace and positive self esteem. Vainglory – feeling pride with a bit of vanity, seeking acclaim, self valuation. Wrath – excessive anger, uncontrolled hatred, irrational manners. Acedia – dissatisfaction with life, self, lack of care, unable to perform, depression. Envy – unstable desire, greed, jealousy of someone else’s achievements for example.
