This short documentary introduced by choreographer Victoria Chiu explains the processes and data flows of the Pilot Virtual Crossings Melbourne Project hosted by VCA Dance and TrakLAB at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, University of Melbourne during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Virtual Crossings is a network of artists engaged in cultivating distant touch through remote collaboration. Initiated by Cie Gille Jobin Geneva, this digital dance network engages partners in Geneva, Melbourne and Auckland for simultaneous remote performance and research through a virtual architecture embodied through motion capture technology. Virtual Crossings mobilises choreographic spaces for dance to travel safely and with minimal impact.
