She was born as Bleta Rexha in Brooklyn, NY to Albanian parents – her father emegrated to the USA when he was 21 years old. Bleta is Albanian for „Bee“ that’s why she took the name „Bebe“ as her nickname. When she was younger she played the trumpet and learned herself to play piano and guitar. She also joined the choir when she was in High School. As a teenager she submitted a song to be performed at the National Academy of Recording Arts & Science annual Grammy Day event. She won the ‚Best Teen Songwriter Award‘.

In 2010 she met Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and eventually became a member of his new band called ‚Black Cards‘. In 2013 she signed a record deal as a solo artist and wrote „The Monster“ for Eminem & Rihanna. In 2014 she released her debut single „I Can’t Stop Drinking About You“. It didn’t reach the Billboard Hot 100 but peaked at #15 in the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. In 2015 she released her first EP named „I Don’t Wanna Grow Up“, followed by 2 EPs named „All Your Fault- Part 1 and 2.“ She reached the Top 10 of the US Hot 100 single charts with G-Eazy in a collab named „Me, Myself and I“. The song also conquered the Top 10 in Germany, Canada, Sweden, Norway and New Zealand.

In 2016 she won the BMI Award in London for her collab with David Guetta, Afrojack and Nicki Minaj called „Hey Mama“. She also reached the Top 10 in the UK in a collab with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix called „In The Name Of Love“. In 2017 she had her biggest success in the US Single Charts as her collab with country group Florida Georgia Line peaked at #2. It also reached #2 in Australia. In 2018 she released her debut album „Expectations“ – it peaked at #13 in the USA, #16 in Canada and #19 in Australia.
