VERY BEST: Little Mix

2020 strikes one more time: It was announced this week that Jesy Nelson, one part of the quartet known as ‚Little Mix‘ will leave the group to take care of her mental health.

They were formed during the 8th season of the UK casting show „The X Factor“ in 2011: Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards started as individuals competing but after they failed to reach the next round they were ultimately put together as a unit and were praised by the jury and the audience. They became the first group to win the show and released their debut single „Cannonball“ – a Damien Rice cover – in 2011. The song topped the UK Single Charts and became an omen for what was to come. In 2012 the group released their debut album „DNA“ – and peaked at #3 in the UK, #4 in the USA and reached the Top 10 around the globe. The single „Wings“ became their 2nd #1 single in their homecountry.

In 2013 they released their next album „Salute“ and reached Top 5 in the UK and Australia, as well as Top 10 in the USA and Canada among other places. In 2015 they released their 3rd studio album „Get Weird“ and peaked at #2 in the UK and Australia. The single „Black Magic“ became their 3rd #1 single in the UK. The album has since been certified double platinum in the UK.

In 2016 they released their next album „Glory Days“ and reached #1 for the first time in the UK album charts. The single „Shout Out To My Ex“ became their 4th #1 single in their homecountry. In 2018 they released their 5th studio album called „LM5“ and peaked at #3 in the UK, #2 in Ireland and #8 in Australia among other places. It was their last release under the label of Syco, owned by X-Factor judge Simon Cowell.

In 2020 they released their 6th studio album „Confetti“ and reached #2 in the UK and #7 in Australia among other places. It turned out to be their last album as a quartet because in December that year Jesy Nelson announced, that she will leave the group. They will now continue on as a trio.
