Trinidad is a city of capital historical importance in Cuba. It was the center of the sugar trade during the 18th and 19th centuries. Perfectly restored, the city is full of colonial houses recalling the era of the great prosperity of landowners who resorted to slavery to build their fortunes. Its role as a witness to the beginnings of the sugar industry has earned it a World Heritage List, along with the Valle de los Ingenios, where the plantations and sugar mills were located.
