FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

आरोह (Ascent) is about the struggle and experiences of school-going girls between the ages of 5 and 10 to secure an education and a similar condition faced by a teacher in an effort to provide them the same. The school is located in a very remote part of Maharashtra with a lack of basic amenities. There is no network in that particular village and electric supply ranges from couple of hours to none at all for the day. The road to the village is improper and damaged and there are hardly any buses which travel on that route. The location of village, albeit picturesque for an outsider, is surrounded by mountains in the Sahyadri range and faces harsh weather conditions like extreme rainfall. The little girls along with their siblings tread on an off-road path of more than 1 km to reach the school and the teacher travels a total of 150 kms to and from the school to teach her students. This situation has a remarkable resemblance to the struggles and experiences faced by the Director’s mother almost 30 years ago, to receive an education in her childhood and later on in her career as a school teacher herself.
