TOP TEN: Awolnation

This band was formed when singer Aaron Bruno was approached by Red Bull Records in 2009 if he wanted free use of the studios with the same name in Los Angeles. Bruno agreed and soon signed a deal with the label, calling it more of a partnership. The band name is taken from his high-school days when he used to leave without saying goodbye and got the nickmane AWOL – a slang from the military acronym „Absent without Leave“. The band has had different members but is ultimately assembled around Bruno.

AWOLNATION released their debut album „Megalithic Symphony“ in 2011. The single ‚Sail‘ became a huge hit, reaching the Top 20 of the Billboard Single Charts and the UK Official Single Charts. It was certified multiple times platinum in the USA and Canada (both 6 times) as well as Platinum in the UK. The album was certified platinum in the USA.

In 2015 they released their 2nd album „Run“ and reached the Top 20 in the US album charts and Top 10 in Canada. The single „Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) became the first and so far only #1 in the US Billboard Alternative Charts. In 2018 the band released their 3rd album „Here Come The Runts“ and peaked at #20 in the USA. Bruno and members released their 4th album „Angel Miners & Lightning Riders“ in April 2020.
