SLOWTIDE X 917 Collection

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Call Me 917 and Slowtide have come together to design a capsule collection of summer essentials. The new drop consists of two towels, one blanket and a cruiser board. Collectively, the limited edition products were artfully designed by Call Me 917’s founder, Alex Olson.

Olson was inspired by the prints used in durable 99 cent bags commonly used for laundry. These prints were turned into a series of 917 skateboards and have now found their new canvas: 100% sustainably sourced towels and a blanket. The 917 Blanket is a heavyweight, USA-made tapestry blanket that features a reversible design, fringe edge detailing and a vegan leather label. Complimenting the softness of the blanket is a 917 Turkish Towel, which is a lightweight yet functional alternative to a standard beach towel. The 917 Turkish Towel gets softer and more absorbent with every wash, is oversized and completely sand-free. The last towel in the collection, 917 Quick-Dry Towel, is made of recycled polyester (primarily water bottles). This sand-free towel absorbs 4x its weight in water, dries 2x faster than a standard cotton towel and comes with a drawcord loop for easy drying. The lightweight and packable nature of this towel makes it ideal for travel. As a nod to 917’s previous series of skateboards, Call Me 917 reissued a new cruiser board. The shape of the board was inspired by Neil Blender.

“We decided to take this plaid print and put it on a series of boards and then make them ever so like an old nineties technology. So they felt like plastic. And then now, we just turn them into towels made of recycled materials.” says Alex Olson.

“I first met Alex in New York through some mutual friends and going on skate trips together. Years later, he started 917 and I started Slowtide and we both got more into surfing. The collection was inspired by some of the 917 board graphics and we wanted the capsule to feature the same print across different towel and blanket materials along with a cruiser board” says Slowtide’s Co-founder, Dario Phillips.

The limited edition Call Me 917 x Slowtide collection is available exclusively on www.slowtide.co. To purchase the cruiser board, go to www.callme917.com
