Pink lips and smooth skin, a popular imagining of a young girl.
Without a doubt, I was a girl.
I was always praised for my cute doll face and pale skin. At the same time, they crawled densely all over my arms and legs under my deliberately chosen long sleeves and trousers. I never knew where they came from. It was only when the water ran over my skin in the shower and I felt the sudden pain that I realized: oh, so the skin here has broken again.
They are my permanent wounds, physical and psychological.
They live on with me, they are a part of me.
