She-Wolves Edinburgh 2022 Trailer – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

„In the medieval world, power was inescapably male.
Yet despite everything that stood in their way, a handful of extraordinary women did attempt to rule.
When they pursued power like kings, these royal women were vilified as She-Wolves.
These are the stories of the She-Wolves of England.“

„She-Wolves“ returns to the Edinburgh Fringe in a new incarnation with original contributions from award-winning collaborators. In this exhilarating one-woman adaptation of the book and BBC series by historian Helen Castor, the She-Wolves emerge from the shadows to tell their stories through dance, theatre, song, fashion, design, and hand-drawn projections.

The show is a tour of medieval England through the eyes of the women who attempted to rule it. Discover the untold stories of queens (and almost-queens) who refused to be tamed. The stories of these royal women will shock, delight and grip you while raising old and still unanswered questions about gender, power and stewardship.

This is history with contemporary bite.

“An intricate, forceful and nuanced production… If you are dithering about whether to go, you should” (Broadway Baby *****)

Brighton-based performer Laura Careless is “a marvelously dramatic dancer” (NY Times) whose raw physicality and probing portrayals of archetypal female characters earned her a reputation as “one of the most interesting and dramatically detailed dancers on New York’s stages” (Broadway World).

“Laura Careless is virtuosic—bringing both comedy and tragedy to her dancing, yet never losing sight of the character’s interior life. Spellbinding to watch, Careless brings both silent-screen pathos and broad humor to her role.” (Parterre Box)
