Secret Beach is a video where a mirror frames a view, slightly moving to give the impression the water slowly absorbs us. It is where the still and the moving meet, the plane and the deep, the inert and the living become one.
It was filmed with my phone one crisp sunny early morning and is part of a series of pictures called „Filling the Spaces“.

That morning when I woke up, I knew I wanted to create something for my family and friends to watch, something that could soothe their minds, make their eyes travel. We had just hit another Covid wave…

I am very fortunate to be living in Revelstoke and have more than once felt the healing powers of Nature. During my escapes, I often enjoy creating in situ installations, there is so much material to work with in the wild.
I use mirrors at home to imagine new windows and make space feel bigger, something we never need to do in nature! Perhaps that is why i like the effect it gave ( though i wouldn’t mind it to have been a little steadier 🙂
