Fashion at Brown kicked off Brown Fashion Week 2021 with none other than Sarah Jessica Parker, a fashion powerhouse whose latest bona fides include CEO of the SJP Collection, her booming shoe business; member of the Partnership for New York City, an economic council of NYC’s top CEOs; and vice chairman of the New York City Ballet… in addition to being a Golden Globe, Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild award-winning actress of the stage, silver screen, and television.

And SJP doesn’t stop there. A vocal advocate of shopping locally, Sarah Jessica regularly works in her flagship NYC boutique, waiting on shoppers and dropping off shoe deliveries to surprised customers as she walks home from work. During her conversation with F@B, SJP taught us about her unique approach to retail, her myriad entrepreneurial initiatives, and her passionate dedication to the post-pandemic revival of New York City.

Sarah Jessica Parker is an award-winning actress whose starring role in ‚Sex and the City‘ catapulted her to stardom. Winner of multiple Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Emmy Awards, Sarah Jessica has had a long and impressive acting career, first appearing on Broadway as a child and then as a teenager in the title role of Annie during its original Broadway run. She also founded and runs her own production company, Pretty Matches, to help get women’s stories told on film, including the HBO Golden Globe-nominated hit, “Divorce,” as well as “Blue Night” with an array of renowned actresses that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

In addition to her extensive acting credentials, Sarah Jessica has been named the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s „Fashion Icon of the Year,“ has debuted several lines of fragrances, and launched a wine collection in partnership with New Zealand winery Invivo. Her love of fiction culminated in the launch of SJP for Hogarth that publishes works of literary fiction from established and emerging global voices that has included “A Place For Us” by Fatima Farheen Mirza, which became New York Times bestsellers upon publication.

In 2014, her passion for shoes led to the creation of the SJP Collection, with the goal of creating a more affordable luxury shoe line, in collaboration with the former president of Manolo Blahnik, George Malkemus.

A steadfast supporter of New York City, Sarah Jessica also serves on the Partnership for New York City, a nonprofit economic council of NYC’s top CEOs, and as the vice chairman of the New York City Ballet.
