S20 E42: Elks Lodge Poker Run in Eureka Utah

Elks Poker Run in Eureka, Utah:

This week Chad and Ria are hitting a more rugged trail in the Steadman’s Yamaha Wolverine as they take a one of a kind adventure on the Elks Lodge Poker Run out of Eureka, Utah. This trail features very mellow terrain and is very easy going in most places, but in others as Chad will show you, it gets rocky and can surely do some damage to a machine and or its tires if you’re not paying attention. Luckily traversing the terrain isn’t the only fun you can find at the Elks Lodge Poker Run. After all, it is a poker run. Drivers collect cards at different stations along the trail to try and build the best poker hand. The stations also include several different games and the drivers must play the games in order to score points to improve their hands. There are some spectacular prizes awarded at the end for both the winning hand and the worst hand, so you never know what to expect and it’s fun for everyone.

Where To: Big Rock Candy Mountain:

On this week’s Where To Adventure, Terry and Susan Wood are joining the crew to take you to a resort straight out of a dream…or was it a song? I know there’s a lemonade spring and a bluebird singing at that Big Rock Candy Mountain. And Terry and Susan are going to show you where this place actually exists complete with some great hiking and biking trails and kayaking opportunities nearby. You can sleep in one of their cabins, they have RV hookups or you can even stay in the popular “Caboose Village” that we’ll explore on a future episode of AYL.

What’s New: Yardley Rustic Beef Stroganoff :

Mark and Katy Yardley are back and this time they are presenting you a great meal that you can make in a hurry, Yardley Rustic Beef Stroganoff. This is one of the best recipes that Katy has shared yet, but be sure to get your Yardley Beef to get the best flavor.

Ingredients:
2 lbs thin sliced sirloin or 2lbs ground beef browned (1in size)
1 bag frozen pearl onions
3 carrots chopped
10 mushrooms halved
1 tsp fresh thyme
1/2 -3/4 cup of white wine
1 cup of beef broth
½ Tbsp beef paste
2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 cup of heavy cream
2 Tbsp sour cream
Salt and pepper
Slurry:
1 Tbsp corn starch
1/2 cup cold beef broth

Serve over noodles

Along The Way: Legends of the Trail – Nolan Steadman:

In this week’s Along The Way we are remembering a dear friend of AYL and co-founder of Steadman Recreation, Nolan Steadman. Nolan always believed that a good, hard day out on the trail was better than being inside anyday. He also knew that the trials and tribulations of off-roading brought friends and families closer together and he used that mantra to meet his wife Christy and to create a wonderful family legacy. Check out this amazing story of how Nolan, along with his brother Bruce, got started in the off-road industry and grew their business into one of the largest dealers in the state. We will forever ride on in memory of Nolan. When we hit the trail, through good times and bad we always know he’ll be with us.
