About Ruvarashe. Ruvarashe joined Blue Coat Sixth Form in 2015 as a “new coat” and didn’t hesitate to make the most of the wide variety of opportunities on offer to Blue Coat students, including School Council and Debating Club. Passionate about arts and humanities she studied English Literature, History, French alongside Design and Technology.

A love of fashion led Ruvarashe to study Fashion Design and Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her course provided her with a 360-degree angle of the fashion industry, with hands-on experience including designing and producing her own clothes, photoshoots, compiling business proposals and marketing products, as well as testing products.

Ruvarashe’s course included a year in industry working at Survitec, a leading brand that provides protective clothing to the Ministry of Defence. Her role provided her with an opportunity to build her knowledge of how clothing can save your life.

Since graduating in the summer of 2021, Ruvarashe has embarked on a new role with BTTG, an independent organisation that tests and certifies Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Construction Products, as a Technical Customer Services Officer. Working with companies from across the UK and around the world, she tests PPE including Firefighter suits and surgical gowns.

Ruvarashe’s top tips include giving everything a go and making the most of every opportunity.

‚5 minutes with…‘ was launched during the Covid-19 crisis to help support the Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance programme at Blue Coat whilst the majority of our face to face CIAG support is unable to take place.
