Popsicle Puppets in Space was created for children in need of playtime during COVID19 in Edmonton, Alberta. During this time we have discovered that Puppets Are Essential Too, and in part, we created this video to accompany packages we have created and delivered.

The idea originally came to us as we were delivering hampers to inner-city families from St. Catherine’s Catholic School who were impacted by COVID 19. We were struck by the sadness and loneliness of the children and wanted to give them something special just for them along with the food.

We, too, are reeling from the effects of the pandemic. We don’t know when we will be able to resume our regular activities – day camps, drama classes, touring productions, school residencies, main stage productions, festivals – all marked by working with and for people in close contact. Creating and distributing these puppet kits has allowed us to continue to serve the community with theatre, albeit in a much smaller fashion, while keeping our distance.
