Racism and inequity are not new topics at universities, but events of the past two years have brought these issues to the fore. Task forces have been created to examine and evaluate diversity policies and make recommendations involving the curriculum. Some faculty support this process and argue that institutions should reframe the curriculum accordingly to reflect more inclusivity. Other faculty feel that the topic has been overstated and that oversight by diversity administrators is impeding their ability to teach their subjects freely and in the fashion they wish. And still others, while devoted to making their curriculum more equitable, do not feel that they should have this dictated to them by those outside their field.
