Hello, once more!

Covid has been rough on all of us. From not being able to go out and see friends and family, to dwindling economic prospects, to the decline of law and state, it’s hard to feel like things are going right anymore.

But I think it’s also important to hold on to whatever moments we can. Steal every bit of happiness we can find, wherever we find it. That’s why, once I was fully vaccinated and able to travel more freely, I took my super 16mm Krasnogorsk-3 camera and shot a good ~12 minutes of film of my reunions with friends and family, including a day on the Road to Paradise.

And gosh what a great time it was. The weather couldn’t have been better all the days I was out. Mid-70s, low humidity – just some gorgeous summer days. It also gave me the chance to test the Kodak 500T 7219 stock in super bright, daylight conditions without any filters during the summer, when there’s lots of verdant greens and warm, yellow fields of crops.

And lo and behold, a lot more of my shots are in focus this time! Mainly thanks to how much my lens had to be stopped down when metering for ISO 100 and 200, with the rare foray in metering for ISO 400 and 500. Though one thing I have learned is that the K3 is really not the best slow-motion camera, both due to its shaky registration and spring-wound motor. I still love it to bits, though, and when you nail focus and exposure, this camera, coupled with this film stock, can produce some seriously outstanding images.

That’s all for now! Again, ungraded version coming soon once my weekly storage opens back up.

In the meantime, have a good one, folks!

Best,
Adam/Tines
