FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

After the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Unicorn Riot obtained hundreds of thousands of messages from white supremacist and neo-nazi Discord chat servers in the hopes of exposing far-right activity to public scrutiny through data journalism.

These are the “remains” of the Unite the Right rally discussion boards. And like debris, they are scattered pieces. When taken out of context some aspects may seem harmless or even funny—like an obsession with white foods such as onions—but it is important to remember these are parts of the greater ideology of white supremacy. The alt-right use coded language and visual signifiers in order to obsessively control their optics.

In this way, we focus each gif on a different aspect—#fashion, #food, #art, #self-improvement—and join them together again in a 2×2 composition. Different speeds and lengths of each gif emulate this scattered-ness, creating new combinations with each loop.
