Nina Sellars‘ 20 minute presentation for the „Anatomy & Beyond“ symposium, Riga, Latvia.

„Anatomy & Beyond“ comprised an international gathering of anatomists, surgeons, and artists, exploring contemporary concepts of anatomy. The symposium was held as a satellite event to the 47th Congress of the International Society for History of Medicine Riga 23-27 August 2021.

„Anatomy & Beyond“ symposium speakers: RICHARD WINGATE (neuroscientist & anatomist—Kings College London); FRANCIS WELLS (cardiothoracic surgeon, Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK); JOE DAVIS (bio artist / space artist—MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts, US); ANGELO VERMEULEN (Belgian space systems researcher, biologist and artist, SEADS—Space Ecologies Art and Designs, BE); ANDREW BURD (Retired Professor of Plastic Surgery—China/UK); MARA G. HASELTINE (artist and environmental activist, US); NINA SELLARS (artist and curator, Harry Brookes Allen Museum of Anatomy & Pathology, University of Melbourne, AU); ANDREW CARNIE (artist, Winchester School of Art, UK ); ELEANOR CROOK (artist, UK); ALEXANDER LUKAS BIERI (Curator, The Roche Historical Collection, CH); THEO DIRIX (prior Consulate, Embassies of Belgium, BE/GR); WILLIAM EDWARDS (Curator of the Gordon Museum, Kings College London); MARK ROUGHLEY (Liverpool School of Art and Design, Face Lab research group).

Sellars was an invited speaker and co-organiser of the accompanying exhibition that was held within the RSU anatomy museum collection. (Due to Australia’s COVID-19 restrictions on overseas travel Sellars could not attend in person).
