MTHC301 Video Proposal- Gloria Montoya

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

I do not own the rights to this song. All credits go to Los Enanitos Verdes. When coming up with a music video idea, it was difficult to see what I should make the video on. The song is a fun spanish rock and roll song and I wanted to try to come up with that same energy in the video. At first I wanted to make a video with nighttime activities. Some activities I had planned were traveling around Kansas City and or exploring Kansas City. The only downside to this was getting the correct lighting and being able to see my face and my friend’s face when we were in the car. This came with the idea to travel around Shawnee, Kansas in the middle of the day. It was the perfect lighting for the camera to capture our faces. Now after that it was what to film during this time. We also didn’t have the whole day to film because the sun was going to set soon. Since the energy of the song is a fun rock and roll, I wanted to just have fun with the video as well. After getting lunch, my friend and I drove around Shawnee, where I used to live. We got some scenery shots of trees and the streets. I tried to make sure I didn’t get any license plates or other people who I do not know in the video. We got shots of cows that were at a farm. I think the green scenery I have in the video matches the fast pace energy that the song brings. I also think that the filming in the car was a great idea because cars go fast and the tempo of the song is fast. I got shots of me lip singing so there could be a slow part in the video when the artist is singing. There were some clips that I took of my friend and I going through the car wash. I wanted to add some clips of us going through the car wash but I felt that it did not match the same energy as the rest of the song. I also felt that by adding the laughter that my friend and I created added a little fun to the video. The setting of the video is very fun and playful making it seem more realistic to a real music video because they always use elaborate backgrounds to get the messages of the video across. I also think that choosing to do a song in another language adds uniqueness to my video because it allows others to hear what music sounds like in other cultures and they can compare it to the music they hear today and see if there are any similarities or differences. You can also listen to the instruments that are highlighted in the song and see that in Mexican culture they like to highlight the drums and guitar which is similar to American pop culture but also have traditional instruments.
