Most African House in America

The most African House in America is the home of Anthony „Amp“ Elmore located in the African/American Community of „Orange Mound“ in Memphis, Tennessee. Orange Mound is the 1st planned community in America built for Blacks by Blacks.

Elmore who is known in his home town of Memphis, Tennessee is a „Five Time World Karate/KickBoxing Champion. Elmore is also Memphis 1st Independent Feature filmmaker. Elmore wrote, produced directed and starred in the 1st Kickboxing movie filmed in American movie history.

Elmore a community activist dream in life was to travel to Africa. Elmore’s dream came true in1990 when a deal was worked out with the Government of Kenya to premier his 1988 movie „The Contemporary Gladiator in Nairobi and Mombasa Kenya. Elmore was greeted with a „Hero’s welcome in Kenya.“ Kenya changed Elmore’s life whereas he devoted his life to bringing Africans and African/Americans together.

Elmore traveled to Accra, Ghana in 1998 to film a Temple Opening. Elmore made friends in both Kenya and Ghana. In 2003 Elmore’s home caught fire and Elmore had the chance to restore his home via African structural items and furniture decorating.

Elmore who divorced his 1st wife who was from Kenya Elmore traveled to Ethiopia to find his 2nd wife and to travel to Ghana to furnish his home in America. Elmore spent 3 months in Ghana working with carvers and furniture maker to design furnishings for his Memphis Home.

Elmore turned his home into the „Safari House Museum Cultural and Educational Center. Elmore began working on this film production „Rock and Roll a Black Legacy“ in 2021. The script called for Elmore to not only change the color of his home, the script called for major renovations.

The renovations of the home transformed Elmore and reinvigorated Elmore’s desire to tell his story along with facing Memphis White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism. The Memphis in May Cultural Celebration honored the Country of Ghana whereas Elmore put his heart and soul into Ghana.

While Elmore has the largest display of Ghana home furnishing „Memphis in May“ did not consider including Elmore’s home in the celebration. Also „OMAC“ or the „Orange Mound Arts Council “ decided not to support Elmore’s work. Elmore explains we have the largest display of not only Ghana furnishings, we have the largest display of African living Art in America.

Elmore also note that we in „Orange Mound“ have the largest African export display in America. Elmore explains that if you think about products exported to America from Africa we cannot find many diverse products in America made in Africa.

Elmore notes that we in Memphis pulled off one of the largest exports from sub-Saharan Africa. Moreover Elmore notes that in our City of Memphis that has about a 70% African/American population there does not exist a place in Memphis where African American can find „positive African images.“

Elmore also notes that we in Memphis were able to travel to Africa and hire craftspeople who had not ‚running water, electricity, or even a roof over their heads were able to produce quality furniture for the American market.

Elmore also notes that Americans have never seen a home with „All African Furnishings.“ Elmore notes that we created a new „Art Form“ in America called „African Style.

Elmore is contacting African Government to assist in the Elmore to export more products from Africa and gear up the production of African home furnishings.

Elmore in this video appeal to the African Governments of Kenya and Ghana to come to America to promote „Made in Africa“ movement.
