Monte Albán (The Green Hill) – Oaxaca, México

It is one of the first cities in Mesoamerica, it was founded by the Zapotecs around the year 500 BC, the original name of the city is unknown. The Mixtecs made this city their capital, they called it Yucucúi, which means green hill.

The name of Monte Albán was given by the Spanish due to the similarities with the Colli Albani, in Italy.

Es una de las primeras ciudades de Mesoamérica, fue fundada por los zapotecas alrededor del año 500 aC, se desconoce el nombre original de la ciudad. Los mixtecos hicieron de esta ciudad su capital, la llamaron Yucucúi, que significa cerro verde.

El nombre de Monte Albán se lo dieron los españoles debido a las similitudes con los Colli Albani, en Italia.
