Irene Guarnieri (b.1996, Firenze IT) is an illustrator, content creator and 2d animator whose work usually explore concepts such as fashion, gender, women body confidence and women sexuality – mainly through the use of digital art, animation, painting and collage.

The animation aims to represent the poverty and the situation of Zimbabwe; a country where over 1 million children have been abandoned by their families. As the politics of Zimbabwe doesn’t allow to show the poverty and the hunger that the country experiences through videos or photos, the first part of the animation wants to properly transmits these sensations through drawings, and shows the environment where the kids are left without any kind of support. In the second part we can see a woman extend her hands towards a child, the child’s hand reaching the woman, and finally a hug. This would represent the support and the love that ‘Mind The Gap’ gives to these children, giving them a home, emotional support and helping them building the future that they deserve.

The video is a 2d animation digitally hand drawn frame by frame, and then composed in After Effect.
