My character is an 18 year old girl named Jess. Jess has long brown hair and brown eyes. She has a younger brother who’s 15 years old and they get along quite well. They both live with their mother. Apart from her brother, Jess only has a few close friends, but she believes in quality over quantity. Jess has been hurt by people she considered friends and trusted before, so it takes her a while to open up to someone. Jess’ father hasn’t lived with her and her mom in years and ever since he left he has begun travelling. Everywhere he goes he sends Jess a magnet. Although she thinks it’s cool that her dad has been to so many different places, she can’t help but feel sad that he’d rather be so far away than stay close to her. She graduated from high school in 2020 and he didn’t even travel back for that. The only time he’s ever sent a postcard was a few days ago from Lithuania. All it said was “wish you were here”, which Jess took to heart and immediately booked a flight. She didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to maybe finally, hopefully, get to know her dad like she should’ve known him all these years. She left so quickly that she forgot to take the stuffed bears her mom had bought for her after her dad left and she didn’t even make her bed.
