„Memories of Shangshuang tells the story of 2 childhood friends reminiscing about their past while they are reunited once again in the hometown they both left behind searching for a better life.“

The economic boom in China in the 90s caused a massive migration movement where a whole generation of people left the countryside for the prosperity of the city. Long hours, small houses, and a frantic rhythm often meant leaving the children behind, usually with the grandparents in the countryside where they would often spend their whole childhood.

ShangShuang is one of those cities in the south of China. Now mostly inhabited by the elderly, it was once the home of many children whose parents were working hard to provide a better life for them.

The story, all names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this production are fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, buildings, and products is intended or should be inferred.
