Meet Your DE: Jeanie O’Halloran

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Destination Expert Jeanie spent most of her memorable youth in the small, working class seaside village in Sligo, Ireland, an idyllic town where beautiful green hills meet the dark blues of the North Atlantic. It was from this nest and nurtured along by her father’s love for travel that she embarked on an adventure to Peru that is still playing itself out.

Her first stop in South America was the city of Cusco, a planned six week stint in which she wanted to brush up on Spanish, volunteer and have an adventure or two. Although wanderlust was in the captain seat for this journey and she quickly realized that she would not be on a plane back to Ireland so soon. She stayed in Peru for three years, and survived by working two jobs, selling travel by day and moonlighting at Cusco’s, Paddy’s Pub by night. It was here, a favorite watering hole for some on our team, which we realized that the Irish girl behind the bar was much more than what first impressions told.

It was a discovery of immense fortune for SA Expeditions as Jeanie has since become a leader of our destination team, responsible for bringing hundreds of people a year to explore the world. Today, with her computer in hand, she jets between Ireland, South America, and many more places in-between, balancing the abstractness of idealism with the practicalities of hard work and dedication from her working class Irish upbringing.
