Hi, my name is Eve Martin. I’m a member of the KBT Realty Group, and I’ve been in real estate for about six years now. I moved to this area about eleven years ago. My husband is originally from Southport, so that’s what brought me here from Virginia Beach, which was quite different in atmosphere, to say the least. But over the eleven years I’ve loved this area and being by the beach and having the access to just walk 15 minutes to the beach with the dog or anything like that. I was in the beauty salon industry 30 years prior to getting into real estate and just love taking care of people. My parents lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia. That’s where I was born. But then we moved to Florida, southwest Florida, and I spent most of my life there until I graduated high school. Then I got into the beauty salon industry and moved to Virginia Beach with some family and stayed there until eleven years ago and still was in the beauty salon industry and then came here. I worked at a salon here for a little bit. I guess the thing I like about real estate is that I’m able to meet different people and help them pursue their next dream. Whether it be finding their forever home or their second home, that they can come down and enjoy the beach, or their forever retirement home, which has been fun to see people that have never been in this area just be like, oh wow, this is where we need to be for sure. So that’s a really great aspect of being in real estate. Plus you meet so many different people and build relationships with them. I did the same thing when I was in the salon industry. It’s the same thing: You take care of people, they become a part of your life, and hopefully you still see them periodically. But I truly enjoy doing real estate. It’s the best feeling when you know you’ve helped them find some place that they’re so excited about moving into and spending some quality family time and enjoying the area that they’re moving to. I love showing people places on Oak Island and showing them all the cute little places they can go in Southport. And like I said, when people haven’t been there ever, you’re just like, are you kidding me? Or they’ll say, I have some clients that said, well, are there any restaurants in Oak Island? And I was like, oh my gosh, there’s like tons of them. And once they started riding around, they were like, oh my goodness, this is the best little secret that we never even knew was here. But all of the beaches here on Brunswick County are wonderful. They’re just family friendly. It’s fun mom and pop places, most of them are, so it makes it even better. So you really get a great family experience when you’re here. If you’re moving here permanently, or even if you come on weekends. I don’t think people realize that there’s actually all these great beaches along the coast or all these little hidden areas that you can go to. And it just blows me away when somebody picks this area from not even being here at all. It’s like a picture that they saw or somebody told them about it, and here they come down to buy a house, and it’s just like, really? And then when they find something, they’re so excited, and they’re looking around the area, and it’s like, this is, like, the best decision that we’ve made. I feel very blessed that I’m able to live where I live and I can walk to the beach in 15 minutes, which you kind of forget that you live in such a great place. I walk my dog to the beach. I love to hang out with my family and friends where we live on the island, our whole street, we have, like, our tribe, I guess you could say. So we all get together and have parties and just hang out and do things like that. And shop, of course. Travel. I go down to Florida a lot, and to the mountains. Just something to kind of relax and enjoy my time off… which you’re never really off. But I definitely live a coastal lifestyle, for sure. I’m definitely lucky.
