Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS).mp4

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

With no human captain or onboard crew, the Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS) uses AI and the energy from the sun to travel further and reveal more about the ocean. Working in tandem with scientists and other autonomous vessels, MAS provides a flexible and cost-effective platform for deepening understanding of critical issues such as climate change, ocean plastic pollution and marine mammal conservation. In parallel, the development of marine autonomous systems promises to transform ocean-related industries such as shipping, oil & gas, telecommunications, security & defence, fishing & aquaculture. The Mayflower Autonomous Ship project is led by marine research organisation ProMare with IBM acting as both lead technology partner and lead scientific partner for the project.

Yeas she is under tow this is the message from the team.

Hi Rupert,

Yes. Last hundred miles will be on tow. She has been in a very strong storm for the past few days going against very strong winds, current and swell, struggling to keep heading at times. We mobilised an assist and even though weather calmed down quite a bit while the boat going out was on its way, we decided to bring her in and give our monitoring team a break before we continue to Massachusetts. Weather slowing the boat down means that some of us sit there all night looking at it barely move. This being the first long distance run, the ship is fine but we could use a break. We are very happy with her performance… It’s been a very long journey since the beginning of 2020.

Thank you very much for your interest in our project

Ayse from the Mayflower team
