Location Photography

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Creating successful and compelling images outside the studio can happen in many different ways. Some photographers exert nearly as much control on location and others focus on creating the best image they can out of whatever is happening right in front of them. Each person’s process can vary widely according to circumstances, content, goal and personal preference. Issues relating to technique and production can have a large impact on the methods used to achieve a specific artistic outcome or serve a client’s interests.

Join Division of Continuing Education faculty members Janusz Kawa, Stacy Arezou Mehrfar, Joseph Sinnott and Esteban Toro for a panel discussion on the craft, production and aesthetics of making photographs on location. The event starts with each panelist presenting some of their work along with a conversation ranging around the path they take to achieve their results.

Janusz Kawa was born in Warsaw, Poland. Studied photography and film at The Art Institute of Chicago in USA. Afterwards he moved to Paris, France where his photographs began appearing in major world publications such as French Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Australian Vogue, American GQ, New York Times Magazine and Interview. Since then he has moved throughout the world as professional photographer capturing the essence of people through portraits from world-renowned artists such as Morgan Freedman, Luciano Pavarotti, Ann Sophie Mutter, Louise Bourgeois, Daniel Day Lewis among others. During that time his personal work included projects from India to Morocco and Mexico. The thread running through much of his personal work shows the nomadic spirit of people similar to his own way of life. He has shown his work internationally in Mexico City, Paris and New York City where he is currently based.

He’s a contributing photographer for Adobe Lightroom, Getty Images and Medecins Sans Frontieres. Also, his career as a professor and photography curator has turned him into a restless person who is always curious, looking for new references to share with his students and photography lovers. This passion turned him into an international World Press Photo Global Talent nominator.
