Live Funeral services for Sudesh Kumar Bhatia on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 9:30 am EST (7:00 pm IST) at Franklin Memorial Park 1800 Route 27 North Brunswick, NJ.

Sudesh Bhatia, known affectionately as Paul, to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9 2022, with his family at his side.

Paul was born in Jammu, India in 1937, to Madan Lal Bhatia and Sumitra Devi Bhatia and was the second oldest of their six children. He finished college in India, achieving his Masters in Mathematics and moved to the UK in 1968 where he met many of his dear lifelong friends.

In 1969, he married Ravinder Kaur, began his teaching career and started his family in Chelmsford, England.

In 1980, Paul received an offer to teach Computer Science at Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and immigrated to the US with his wife and two children, Ambica and Ameet.

Once again, Paul made new and wonderful lifetime friends and colleagues. He took a job at Middlesex County College (MCC) and advanced his career as a respected professor and educator. His work ethic, passion and commitment to teaching students, young and old, and helping them achieve their goals, earned him the esteemed position of Chairman of the Computer Science Department. Paul built a best in class computer science program at MCC and was a trusted advisor, friend and mentor to his colleagues and students during tenure there.

When he wasn’t teaching or grading exams, you would find Paul cooking while listening to music, watching Bollywood movies and talking to his friends and family on the phone. He loved to entertain and cook for his friends, travel back home to India to see his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews and singing along to his favorite songs.

Paul loved and cherished his wife, Ravi, their children, siblings and six grandchildren with all his heart and will be missed immensely by all who knew him and loved him.
