Playing intoxicated is hard work, and especially when taping. In this video, I was reading this character who is a bully and wants to pick a fight with a fellow band member for being different. I myself have been bullied at school and it can be cathartic to play such a character.

This is a perennial problem with ’naturalistic‘ writing. Are we celebrating the negative shades of life or are we surpassing it? I myself consider archetypes as a good way to bridge the now and the eternal. For instance, the drunk here could be Dushasana, the warrior prince from Mahabharatham known for his boorish behavior. This way I can stay ground and true and find the distance between the self and the character.
