JEFF GOMEZ ON TRANSMEDIA STORYTELLING – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Imagine being able to decide the rules of how the world of Men in Black works or what place Spider-Man as in the rapidly expanding Spiderverse. Jeff Gomez, CEO, Starlight Runner takes University of Texas Austin students behind the scenes on how he uses transmedia storytelling to buildng extended storyworlds for blockbuster franchises like these and many others.

Jeff Gomez, a writer, producer and consultant was one of the first people to coin the term „transmedia“ storytelling, which he describes as “symphonic narrative.”

Through his studio Starlight Runner Entertainment, Jeff and his team have performed world-building services and created content for media giants such as Disney, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Mattel and others. Jeff has also provided consulting for a wide array of people, from the leaders of nations to Fortune 500 top executives, to indigenous and underrepresented communities. During his consultations as a personal coaching, Jeff uses a precise and particular method that he has developed over decades of research and development to help his clients and mentees find their life’s central story; their purpose in life and career.

„Transmedia really in and of itself doesn’t mean all that much. It’s about being able to communicate across various platforms in some kind of meaningful way. But when you hook it up to an action like storytelling, transmedia storytelling means you’re telling stories but you’re using different media in order to get the entire story. You’re using the media in a concerted fashion. In an ideal world, that transmedia element is something that is going to enhance your experience of the narrative. it’s going to give you new insight and play to the strength of the medium.“
