Ira Bell Ray departed this life on Tuesday, August 2,2022. She was born October 4,1913 in Matthews, North Carolina to the late Martha Ann Robinson

Ira was educated in Matthews, NC, and attended church in Murkland, NC along with her family. She migrated to Charlotte, NC where she met and married her late husband Charlie Ray. Ira was a homemaker and a domestic worker at S&W Cafeteria for many years.

Ira joined St Paul Baptist Church in 1950. She was a part of the Adult Choir and a faithful member. In addition to serving in Church, she enjoyed cooking, reading the Bible, growing her own food, gardening, taking power walks, and being a spunky jokester. She loved to dress up look fashionable and travel. Ira was also known for her famous creamed corn and collard greens that she and her husband grew in their very own garden.

Ira will be remembered as being an upright mother, teaching valuable lessons, encouraging her children to pursue a full education, and continually reminding them to make the most out of their lives.

Ira was preceded in death by her Mother Martha Ann Robinson, her Husband Charlie Ray, her sisters Irene Robinson & Maggie Robinson, her brothers John Robinson & Joe Walker.

Ira’s loving memories will be cherished by her daughter Martha L Ray, son James E Ray (Shelby) three grandchildren Shamira Ray, Roshenna (Shawn) Smith, and Sabrina Ray. Seven great-grandchildren Danyelle Ray, Michael Smith, Mikalya Ray, Cameron Smith, Daria Ray, Camia Reid, and Caden Reid. One great-great grandchild Macai Ray.
