Gute Arbeit, gute Nacht – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

In Gute Arbeit, gute Nacht [Good Work, good Night] (2021), we witness a cell phone conversation between a post-studio artist and a job center employee in which the artist struggles to explain and justify the expenses of her practice. The same script is performed in various contexts: waking in a hotel room, shopping for a suit in a fast fashion shop, sitting in a rental car. The director’s voice occasionally intervenes, encouraging the actor and blurring the boundary between the cinematic scene and the real conditions of its production.
Ironically, the only moment of relief occurs when time is set aside not for the care of the artist, but for her rental car, as it slowly rolls through the gentle caresses of a car wash accompanied by Brahms lullaby.
