Francis Tim Poissant National Cemetery

Francis (Tim) Poissant, a proud U.S. Army Veteran, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022 at the age of 87. Tim was born on December 15, 1934 in Malone, NY to the late Moises Poissant and Pearl La Chappelle.

Tim served his country in the U.S. Army in support of soldiers during the Korean War. After, he began his career as a butcher/meat cutter in a local grocery store. In 1977, he moved his family to Phoenix for the remainder of his career. Tim volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at St Joan of Arc and also brought the Eucharist to the sick at local hospital and many life care homes as well. He also helped host many Friday Fish Frys during the weeks of Lent at church.

Tim loved to travel with Phyllis his wife, traveling the world to many foreign countries. Tim’s witty sense of humor and true zest for life will forever be remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Phyllis Cannata-Poissant (nee DiGiovanni), his brother Bob Poissant of Buffalo, NY, (wife Claire deceased). from prior marriage to Marilyn Scalia daughters Nancy Starkey husband Ron) of Phoenix, Linda McKenzie (husband Ron) of Blanchard, OK and Phyllis’s family, Linda Rieger of Phoenix (husband Richard), and Michael Cannata of Phoenix (wife Donna) along with 3 Grand Children and 4 Great Grand Children and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Poissant of Phoenix, and siblings Joseph M. Poissant (wife Anita), Richard „Dick“ Poissant (wife Bea), Michael Poissant (wife Elaine), Agnes Poissant (husband Hamme), Connie Bow (husband Gordon), Teresa Hankey (husband Floyd).

Funeral Mass and Burial September 14, 2022 at 10:30am St Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial at National Memorial Cemetery of Phoenix, Arizona on Pinnacle Peak Road at 2pm.
