Forklift Training

Have you ever been to a facility where there are permanent marks in the concrete, paint has been scraped away, or tape has been ripped up due to improper forklift traffic? This situation comes from dragging or having forks in the wrong position – and it’s completely avoidable.

How? Training!

But it’s not just about the proper use of the forks. It goes much deeper than that. But since we always try to keep things short and high-level – here are a few things to consider when it comes to Forklift Training and Safety.

Before even getting on a forklift – be sure you’ve been trained, or OSHA Certified to do so.

Perform a check at the beginning of each shift to assure the forklifts you’re operating are in good working order with an inspection and general maintenance check.

Know ALL the rules and regulations of your facility.

Be aware of the load carrying, lifting, and storage rules.

Wear and utilize all the safety equipment determined by your facility.

Know your surroundings at all times – such as walls, poles, doorways, pipes, racks, other forklifts, and people.

Obey Speed Limits.

Watch for changing floor conditions due to spills or weather.

Keep travel areas clear of all debris.

Pay attention and keep safety top of mind. These tips will be a great start towards staying safe while operating a forklift.

We look forward to seeing you next week for another Warehouse Safety Tips.

Until then, have a great week and STAY SAFE!
