There are verbs that we have especially longed for during the past year 2020. The restrictions applied due to the health crisis relegated the already limited collective use of public space to essential movement. In this kind of extreme situations, individuals can reach a state of loss of their own identity and, consequently, feel alienated to the new world that surrounds them.

Each one of the nine pieces of video art that conform the project ‚Out‘ represents one of those verbs. All of them have been made in the streets of Sant Boi de Llobregat during the months of de-escalation, with two symbolic intentions: on the one hand, to empathize with the nostalgia that many people make them feel disconnected from their own reality and, on the other, to vindicate public space as a place where we can stop and play. The fictitious window or door present in all the interventions superimposes both places: the position of the alienated and the passerby.

Now that we are returning to the museums and the streets, it was time to unify those spaces of active transit, where verbs are getting back and one can sit and watch, breathe, speak, believe, touch, go out, do, travel and fly.

Hay verbos que hemos anhelado especialmente durante el pasado año 2020. Las restricciones aplicadas debido a la crisis sanitaria relegaron el ya escaso uso colectivo del espacio público al tránsito indispensable. En este tipo de situaciones extremas, los individuos podemos llegar a un estado de pérdida de la propia identidad y, consecuentemente, sentirnos ajenos al nuevo mundo que nos rodea.

Cada una de las nueve piezas de videoarte que conforman ‘Fuera’ representa uno de esos verbos. Todas ellas han sido realizadas en las calles de Sant Boi de Llobregat durante los meses de desescalada, con dos intenciones simbólicas: por un lado, empatizar con las nostalgias que a muchas personas les hacen sentir desconectadas de su propia realidad y, por otro, reivindicar el espacio público como un lugar donde poder detenernos a jugar. La ventana o la puerta ficticia presente en todas las intervenciones superpone ambos lugares: el del alienado y el del transeúnte. 

Ahora que volvemos a los museos y a las calles era el momento de unificar esos espacios de tránsito activo, donde los verbos se van recuperando y una se puede sentar a mirar, respirar, hablar, creer, tocar, salir, hacer, viajar y volar.
