Fashion on Fil: Fashioning Faith – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Join stylist Saba Ali for a conversation about “Fashioning Faith,” a short documentary exploring what it means to be young, female and Muslim in America today.

About the Film
When Westerners think of the Islamic veil, the image of women in burkas or the black chador may come to mind. But what about the Muslim woman who easily combines her headscarf with jeans or even couture gowns? “Fashioning Faith” takes a behind-the-scenes look at the emerging world of Islamic fashion and U.S.-based clothing designers who make it possible. The film interweaves interviews and verité footage from an array of Muslim women with one goal in common: to express their faith through fashion. (Yasmin Moll, 2009, 22 minutes.)
