Ehesians 5v1-5 Iitate God! – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

We imitate the things we like and admire or even in some cases we want to be. Little children pretend to be superheroes or one of their parents. Paul tells us to imitate God. One ancient philosopher said, “A great part of art consists in imitation. For the whole conduct of life is based on this: that what we admire in others we want to do ourselves.”
We are told to imitate a few individuals in the Bible. In 1 Cor 11:1 Paul said, “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.” So, we are to imitate Paul in the same fashion he imitates Christ. Within that statement, we are also called to imitate Christ. Peter said we are to follow in the footsteps of Christ. Paul said, we are to have the same attitudes a Christ, the same love as Christ and exercise the same level of forgiveness as Christ. The process of Christian life, is imitating Christ. Afterall, imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Here Paul calls us to imitate God. Imitating God and Christ aren’t mutually exclusive. In fact, when we imitate one, we imitate the other. In this call to imitate God we are living above our own level of natural thinking and living. As we imitate God, we are called to love one another and live holy.
